The term "Marketing" Has become so broad in recent years. When I worked as a Trainer & QA Coach in the B2B (Business To Business) industry, Marketing was direct - creatively placed visual & assumptive verbal queues were used to tell a person that not only did they have a need, but that it would be best met only by YOUR product. So much science goes into Marketing techniques these days - from the in depth studies in human behavior in order to add suggestive or subliminal messaging, down to the less high tech all around go to in "sex sells" advertising.

This being said, does it not make sense that as a population, we are starved for the opportunity to be pitched only what interests us? One of the things I like about what I do, is that it is SOCIAL. I have gained valued & appreciated friendships from around the world with out the drama & politics of the modern office. For me, social networking from home was a major key in improving my health as well as my relationship with my children, but if I want to continue in this profession, I have to be successful in getting my message out. Very quickly, I learned that everything I thought I knew about marketing to the masses was no longer as effective in my new environment. Social network marketing is a whole other animal & I knew I needed more specialized info. I have included the Introduction to a Free Ebook on the subject, below. I think this information is valuable if you are just starting out, but I also think its a great refresher for those who know. You can find & download the entire 6 page Ebook here from WebMarketing123.com here

"The digital world continues to grow and this is quite evident in the
explosive popularity of social networks. People are spending more and
more time on social networks such as Facebook and Linkedin. With
this growth in usage, unique advertising opportunities are arising that
allow a marketer to reach a very targeted audience in new ways.
If you are reading this, the chances are high that you’ve run successful
PPC campaigns on search engines like Google. However, even paid
search marketing has its limits and many marketers have been left
asking for more clicks, more conversion, and more customers.
Advertising on social networks (social PPC) allows you to reach beyond
the search engines and tap into your target audience in much greater
numbers.
While relatively new, social PPC has already generated incredible
success for marketers willing to experiment and seek their customers
off the search engines. In fact, our 2011 State of Digital Marketing
report revealed that over 35% of B2B companies and nearly 75% of
B2C’s have already leveraged social channels to drive sales and leads.
Is this an opportunity that your business can afford to miss?
