Surprise your self!
I am sure many of you know the fairy tale about the Ugly Duckly written by Hans Christian Anderson. The story tells of a homely little bird born in a barnyard who suffers
abuse from his surroundings until, much to his delight (and to the
surprise of others), he matures into a beautiful swan, the most
beautiful bird of all. The story is beloved around the world as a tale
about personal transformation for the better.
In my opinion this story relates to online work upto a certain level. Many newbies see themselves as an ugly duckly. Uncertain about their own skills and discouraged by their family and friends telling them they will never make a dime online.
Unfortunately that is true. Feeling overwhelmed and unsupported makes it very hard to step out of your comfort zone and to try develop new skills that are required to build a successful online business. People give up before they started and deprive them self to develop in the beautiful swan inside them.
What may newbies in online work do, is comparing themselves with the beautiful swans that are already making a decent living from working online. It is quite tempting to say "I can never do this or that".
But you can! The beautiful internet swans of today all started out as ugly duckly! I.e. many of us did not grow up with computers and internet, we did not learn this in school like kids do today. Sure this is an obstacle but not one that can not be overcome.
Take for example Tony Tezak, owner of the Traffic Exchange Tezak Traffic Power, one of the biggest and top rated non stop. I am pretty sure Tony who is older than I am (55 as I write this) did not get any computer lessons at school.
The only thing that differs from the fairy tale of the ugly duckly is, that time won't do the trick. You need to be pro active and make an effort. Step out of your comfort zone and try. Step out of your comfort zone, make connections and ask for help.
Speaking of my own experience, there are many beautiful internet swans online that very well remember their ugly duckly time and are willing to help you and share their tips and experience with you.
So step out of your comfort zone and go for it! You will surprise yourself and master skills you never thought yourself capable off. It is difficult to step out of your comfort zone the first time but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
Do not measure success in $ because there won't be plenty of those when you are just starting. Measure your success in mastering new skills, gaining insights and new contacts made that can help you. in time the $ will follow.
