Facebook is an interesting site to promote on. The reason why I say that is because the platform has so many rules on it, it's like playing in a sports league. You have to be careful with adding friends, adding content, streaming photos, chatting or anything that a normal person does on Facebook only to get banned anyway.

So many people have gotten banned on Facebook just for doing normal everyday things. Saying that, I want to share something with you as a business person. First of all, you are not going to beat Facebook at anything on there. You don't control what goes on nor do you control the way the platform functions. Therefore, don't be deceived and believe that you can use your business name as a general profile because you can't do it period. You can't even use it as a nickname.

The only thing that you can do with your business on Facebook is start a Facebook page. This is pretty much your only option. Once you open a Facebook page, you can promote the page to your friends list and you ask them to share the page with their friends and family, depending on what business you are in.

You can also promote the page via advertising campaign. This is another option that you have as well. Now what most marketers fail, or don't explain to you is the fact that you can promote your Facebook page in other areas such as social bookmarking and other social sites. You also can promote the Page on your blog. All you have to do is just embed it to your blog and then allow people to join you via Facebook through your blog or site.

So here is a summary of how to get your business seen on Facebook.,

  • Create A Facebook Page
  • Create An Advertising Campaign
  • Promote Your Page On Social Bookmarking Platforms
  • Promote Your Page On Your Blog
It's not rocket science but you have silly marketers out there who are not saying the right things or telling you the truth of the matter. The truth of the matter is that you can only do certain things on Facebook in order for you to "safely" help your business show up on Facebook. Using Facebook pages properly will also enable you to help your page show up in the search engines.

Getting your business shown up on Facebook just helps your business stay relevant in the online world but doesn't necessarily take your business to the next level, that my friend is your job.
