In my opinion there is nothing wrong with trying to cash in on these programs, however I would warn caution, education, and wisdom when considering any HYIP!
Understand the program. It is not enough that someone you know and trust has told you to jump in and get paid. Sometimes these programs are here today gone tomorrow! Know what you are doing, and why you are doing it!
Realize, when you join these programs you are taking a risk with your hard earned money! Yes it's true they pay more than a bank, and you can gain a healthy return on your money, but you also take the risk of no return at all!
Considering the programs parameters, let's look at Zeek Rewards for a moment! First thing some will tell you, you don't have to have anyone, and you can start for free...not true. To maximize the earning power you would have to invest within a certain period of time, and the more people you have under you the more money you make from their efforts in doing the same. You must place your ads everyday, and your earnings are points which equate to dollars! You can choose your compound amount and the rest will go into your account. You also have to give the bid packs you purchase away to generate business, so if you are looking for passive income this would not be the one! Activity, and people drives this train.
Now are there other companies that will generate truly passive income with out your having to recruit? Yes there are! But again when introduced to these companies use wisdom, research them, and always, always remember your money is at risk, so GET YOUR PRINCIPAL OUT as fast as you can, and DON'T RISK WHAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE!

I believe that a lot of the companies who at one time would only court wealthy people have now come online, because the economic crisis has affected everyone, and they need to raise capital. As a result the little guy has an opportunity to invest from $10.00 - unlimited amounts in these companies!
With that said, if you are a risk taker find a solid company, and happy investing!
