Making new contacts at APSense
How do you make new contacts at APSense?
I'm not talking about bringing new members. It's about sending Contact Requests to existing members.
We used to have a "new members" section on the Home Page. It was easy to send Contact Requests to new member who had just joined APSense. Since I'm a Premium member, it was not a problem, cause I can send 100 CRs a day.
Since we don't have it anymore, we can't see the new members, unless we take note of the name when accepting or refusing their personal pictures, which is a privilege given after a certain quantity of Honor Points, if I remember correctly.
In our news feed, we see only the members with whom we established contact.
In the past few days, I was clicking the "members online" link. If there were names or pictures I didn't recognize, I took a look and sent a CR.
Yesterday, I realized that, when a member looks at a profile, I can click on the username of the profile being looked at when it's a name I don't usually see in my news feed. It allows me to see profiles and send contact requests.
When I look at the profile of a member, I always look at the date the person joined APSense. If I see it goes back to 2007 or 2008, I then open the most recent article to see if the person was active recently. If there are no articles or RevPages written by that member, it might be a waste of time to send a CR.
One other trick is to check if there are "haves" and/or "wants" on the left part of the profile. If yes, it means the person was active a few months ago, i.e. when the "haves" and "wants" appeared at APSense.
What do you think ? Do you have other ways to find members not in your network at APSense ?
Now that I think about it, I guess I could take a look at the people commenting on the articles I write or read, or the RevPages, or the people who join campaigns.
