Social Media Tips For Newbies

If you're a Social Media newbie and you have a Twitter and Facebook account and you can't figure out why it doesn't seem to be working for you, I feel your frustration and I'm here to help. I know somewhere along the line someone told you or you read that all you had to do was set up your profile and the world would be beating a path to your door with their credit cards in hand right? WRONG. You know now its not that simple, but Social Media cannot and will not be ignored, you can make it work for you if you do it correctly, like any thing else in life. Below are a few things I've learned and do to make it work for me, hope it helps.

1. Is the information you're blasting out there up to date? I mean, what are you really bringing to the party besides old rehashed information? Things and fresh news are moving at lightning speed today and you must keep up to date or you will be ignored.

2. Just who the heck are you? People don't know you from a can of paint and you can't expect them to spend a dime with you if they have no clue to who you are and what you think.

3. Does your business have a Facebook Fanclub and if not, why not? Let people know about your business and what it stands for.

4. Is it really all about YOU, and if it is gimmie a break: If you're a member of ANY community you have to learn how to give not just promote and sell. Trust me when I say that people will tune you out when they find out that you're nothing but a taker.

5. Step up your game: This is not a popilarity contest or a numbers game, at the end of the day its really about great fresh content and who you've helped, when you take that thought process your list will frow naturally or organically because people will know you're there to help and they may even be curious about what your primary business is and stop by your site.

6. Don't write off Social Media just yet: Anything can be accomplished if done the right way, be careful who you take advice from. Never ever forget that nothing happens overnight, you can't plant a tree and go outside the next morning expecting fruit. Give people time to trust you, remember, you have to put your work in like the rest of us.
