One way which does not cost you money but only time in writing and research to create backlinks and quality ones at the most also is to write articles and post them in article directories such as : Ezine, Go and Squidoo.

There are many places where you can submit articles. But I selected these three as they carry plenty authority in the eyes of the major search engines. Remember to make sure that your title and in the closing you use keywords which are related to the content and the website you are trying to promote for page ranking.

If you do this correctly you manage ranking with google without difficulty. Also remember your content must be original as the article directories are strict when it comes to content. If the article is a duplicate they refuse to publish it. Make sure you read their rules to submission when you join them. They are all free to join.
