Stainless steel is perhaps the most well-liked alloy used to produce industrial springs. Metal chromium in the steel provides a medium to high yield strength, allowing it to return to its original shape despite various twists and bends.

They're strong, they don't rust, they are not plastic which becomes brittle in the cold and then breaks. They last a really long time.
