The Samurai is the nickname bestowed upon to people of a caste in old Japan with one of the biggest military powers. In accordance with the legend of the Samurai, this caste system has a greater bearing on the origin of well-known Japanese karate. Long before the Samurai came into military power in the 12th century, they functioned as mercenary warriors. Members of the group of Samurai are required to train by the normal operating procedure of good merit and respect called Bushido (the way of the warrior). Previously in the Heian Era, the Samurai mainly operated as “protectors” of noble landowners. The Samurai became the original military leaders in Japan, where they served the daimyos (lords), and employed the shogun.
