The Supreme Court of Florida has suspended Fort Myers attorney J. Patrick Buckley from the practice of law after a Florida Bar auditor offered proof that Buckley had actually abused clients' funds.
According to Florida Bar files, Buckley's problems began last summer season when $286,093.98 was transferred to a trust account. Attorneys hold trust fund cash in connection with their representation of a client, the Florida Bar guidelines state. It's not money to be abused by the attorney for any of his expenses. In this case the money was from the sale of a house in a divorce case.
