Open Office is a complete office suite that rivals MS Office and can be downloaded free. Open Office Writer works like MS Word, but it can also export PDF files in a click or two, which Word can't do. I have been using it for years to create my own Ebooks free. http://openoffice.org

That's something new then, it always made me wonder why Microsoft never included it for the $400 or so they charge for Office. I would like to see an example.

Word can save in a PDF in the same time it takes to save in .DOCX, it's among the file format options. Maybe that's not what you mean though
