Increasing surgery volume, growing procedural complexities and danger of errors, and the need to impart better training are taking the surgical simulation domain ahead. As surgical simulators resemble the real scenario, these are being increasingly adopted to train surgeons. According to the World Bank, for every 100,000 residents in the U.S., 30,537 surgeries were performed in 2012. The number of surgeries is only expected to increase in the future, resulting in the requirement for more surgeons, whose training require surgical simulation. One of the major reasons for the increase in the surgery volume is the growth in the geriatric population. Owing to their low immunity and general weakness, the elderly are more prone to health issues requiring surgery. As even the minutest procedural errors can have serious repercussions in the elderly, the sale of medical simulators for training purposes is rising.
