Scribus is an open source cross-platform page layout or DTP (DeskTop Publishing) program. Originally is developed on Linux, but runs also on MacOS, OS/2, and windows 2000/XP/Vista. Well, the fact is that is not easy to learn and work with Scribus (but hey, with which professional DTP software is easy??) but the goal of the Scribus Team are to make professional DTP software accessible for beginners.   Scribus has all publishing features as other professional DTP programs (Quark Press, PageMaker, InDesign): spot color support, CMYK color, high grade PDF creation, Encapsulated Postscript import and export and creation of color separations.   What can you do with Scribus? Two things: You can design and produce magazines, newsletters, print-advertising, brochures, calendars and all other things that requires editing of text and photos on paper. Scribus is also very good tool for authoring PDF documents with advanced features such as forms, buttons, passwords and more.   Scribus has a large community of developers and users, so you can find almost all problems quickly solved. Home page with downloads, support and online documentation is here.   So, for quick demonstration of Scribus Open Source DTP I found a video: Demonstration of Scribus Open Source Desktop Publishing
