How often the auto transmission fluid or manual gear box oil should been changed would depend on the make and model of the car, the type of fluid/oil used and the climate conditions. Usually it is recommended to change the auto transmission fluid at every 40,000 - 60,000 km or 2 -3 years, whichever comes first, under normal operating condition. Contaminated auto transmission fluid can cause damage to the transmission's component and affect the transmission performance, such as slow response to gear shift, lost of power etc. The contaminated manual gear box can cause damage to the bearing and gear. Hence it is advisable to service your car and have the oil and fluid change in accordance with the local car distributor's recommended intervals.

Working on one project at a time.

Good advise Avi, like your article well said and pretty accurate. Transmission oil can be tricky at times if you do not follow the correct procedures according to the manufactures Manuel.
