When you start as a newbie with online business you need to explore possibilities. So did I: I signed up for a lot of programs and services. A good thing I thought about making excel sheets of all the things I joined. It helps with an essential task you need to do after some months: Evaluate what worksClean out the rubbishConcentrate on the good stuff and move onThis makes it easier to focus on the important things and to make adjustments in your business plan (you need a business plan! Read this article to find out why). It also helps reduce the amount of emails you need to receive to earn credits for credit mailers. And it helps you to save money. You can cancel subscriptions for services that not work for you.

@JFB Thanks for the compliment

@Tony Denson Thanks for the Word.doc tip

Some times i also sweep comments when there are many. I top the one that add value and delete the ones that say only "nice article" or "i agree". This I do to improve readers experience so that they do not need to plough through many pages of content to find the good stuff.

It's really just like any business, whether traditional or online. The more organised and planned you are, the more you can get done. Timely reminder Paula - I'd better get clearing out a bit more rubbish!

I do the excel sheets too and I also maintain a word document that I make note on my internet activity broken into different activities of my marketing day. The word Doc has a feature called bookmarks where you can dynamically put a bookmark at the beginning of each section. This helps no that my word doc is about 23 pages long

Working on one project at a time.

I totally agree, the amount of emails, pass words we have is unreal....i like your example of spread sheets, l though l was the only one who used that.........no that is a simple but very effective step, for anyone who wants to be organized and on top of his/her game..

Yes we all should read what you wrote, good solid information here Paula...

Hi Paula
Well written article, thorough and concise. Like you, I use spread sheets. I did learn the hard way to make a backup. I lost one due to a hard drive crash. It has any information I might need. I appreciate being confirmed that I was on the right track. It is time for me to sort the junk also. I also use a couple of online programs that are helpful.

I don't really join programs but what you say even applies to those of us who are strictly networking. There's no way that anyone can successfully network on dozens of sites so I occasionally go through and check my networking sites and clean them out.

LOL I have no white board but excel sheets with many more than 5 on it. But now I have set my priorities and goals I can start shrinking this list.

your right Paula many newbies end up joining dozens of programs after being lead to believe this opportunity is the next big money spinner, however because of the volume they are likely to join some are soon forgotten.
My tip is to put up a whiteboard beside your pc and write down when you join a program and what costs are involved (you might also include your login details ie URL/username/password ) this will act as a constant reminder and as you leave a program you can easily remove it from y
