Review on Video Marketing on your blog

When thinking of video marketing, I believe that many people have one word in mind: YouTube. They look for videos that correspond to their needs, either for learning something, or to use it for promotion.

What if you could do your own videos? No need for Hollywood special effects. I read some time ago that nowadays, people look for videos that are good, informative, and where they can relate. This means that any video you do yourself could fit the bill.

There are 3 types of videos:

1) Live videos.

2) Images and music.

3) Screencast videos.

The first type is the scariest. Most people do not feel comfortable doing it. However, if you feel you could do it, don't worry about cost at first. If you have a webcam on your laptop, you can start with that.

The 2nd type, I have never done myself. This is popular, since it doesn't ask for you to record your voice. Free software like Windows Live Movie Maker allows you to easily create that type of video.

The 3rd type is what I do the most. I use screenr.com an online tool to record a video, where we see what's happening on the screen while we hear my voice describing it.

Fortunately, screenr.com is free. There's a limit of 5 minutes, but it's more than enough in most cases. And, the finished video can be saved on your PC as an MP4, ready to see on the iPhone or iPad. One click and you publish the video on YouTube.

One last thing I want to mention is that, instead of getting traffic to your YouTube channel, draw it to your blog. You can easily add the YouTube embed code in a blog post. At least, you can do that on a self hosted WordPress blog. That's what I do. I don't know if it's possible on a Wordpress.com or Blogger blog.

I just added a new page on my blog to show all my videos in an organized fashion. Click here to take a look. In the next few days, I will have my more than 100 videos featured there.

You make it sound so easy. I always thought that you needed a lot of expensive equipment. I guess I'll have to have a go. The big thing will be to make it so people find the result "good, informative, and where they can relate".

Betina, the only way to overcome your fear of doing it is to, well, do it, and get feedback. Most people will respect it, because few do it themselves, so they are not well placed to put it down.

Zebgul, for screencast videos, it is possible to not record your voice and then create multiple copies in different languages using Windows Live Movie Maker, but it would be challenging. Maybe simply do the video in English and redo it in your own language. I suggest you do that, since English is the language for international business. In short, do as I say, not as I do, I haven't done any of those videos in French, my first language LOL
