Review on Sirius XM Satellite Radio

Sirius Satellite Radio vs Free Radio. Some folks would say why pay for radio when I get it free. True, but in order to understand why you get it free you have to understand where radio comes from and why it exists. Radio is only free to all of us because the advertisers pay for it. Who is getting robbed are the artists. A Radio station can go to an advertiser and say "advertise during these hours" because this is when most of our audience is listening and we play these Artists that this market enjoys listening to. (ie, age, gender,etc...)and you can target your Ad towards this demographic.

Should the artists be paid every time a radio station plays their song? I think so, because without the artist you would not have the demographic to target. Therefore the radio station exploits the artist for a advertising fee from the advertiser and then plays the artist record so we listen in to hear the commercial in between music.

Satellite Radio is the future. Just like television used to be free you now you pay for it. Radio no doubt is heading the same way.

Some would say that they are not in their car long enough to justify paying for it. That's true, but how many times have you left your house and turned on the radio only to hear commercials from the time you left your house to 15 minutes later when you get to the bank or store? Sound familiar? You bet. I used to say the same thing and now I don't even listen to regular radio.

I like the fact that I can get in my car I can it put on a Comedy or Book Channel and not have to listen to music all the time.

Although I'm not a recording artist myself I do understand their fight to get paid. I don't mind paying a Music Royalty Fee (MRF)to ensure that the artist get their money.
