Why Rainmeter? It is lightweight. Started with Windows Vista, Seven and now Windows 8, there is a desktop gadget already included.While this gadget is running, it consumes a lot of memory (in average above 30 MBytes), and depends on how many gadget is running. I noticed with more than 3 gadgets running, it consumes more than 45 MB and CPU load over 12% all the time
