Review on JOINT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
Knee ligaments are often injured and injuries of ACL are commonly associated with sports like football, skiing, gymnastics and ice hockey. Road traffic accidents especially involving motorcycles are also a common mode of this injury. Usually there is sudden deceleration, jump from a height. It is followed by swelling of knee due to haemarthrosis (collection of blood in knee), pain and inability to walk. Many people tell about hearing or feeling a pop. It may not be possible to get up after a fall. The ACL injury may be isolated or combined with injury to other components of the knee. The clinical diagnosis is easier before the knee swells. Investigations like imaging by plain x-ray or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are extremely useful. MRI is 95 100% accurate in detecting ACL injuries.Related to JOINT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
