IBOtoolbox is known as the community that every marketer wants to be a part of! Since IBOtoolbox is constantly growing, participating in the platform is so important! Keywords and SEO for IBO Press Releases - Training
It's important to realize that IBOtoolbox is already "search engine optimized" for you. This is actually good news, especially knowing that the experts (IBO Development Team) are taking care of all of this for you. One of the best features of IBOtoolbox is that everything you do gets indexed in the search engines - your PRs, videos, wall posts, comments all get indexed. With the latest changes by the IBO Development Team, keywords and tags are now visible to users and search engines in the PR and video listing areas.

This training was prompted by a member that submitted a ticket at the Helpdesk raising the question that when publishing a PR, it was cutting off her list of keywords. This is not the first time this question has came up. My response which is guided by the "experts" (IBO Dev team) was that there were too many of them, the search engines only look at the first few, the others are ignored. The member responded stating that this would be a good training topic and that she saw other use many keywords and thought it would be good to follow their lead.

That being said, I too see many times members posting a long list of keywords for their PRs or videos. This is known as "keyword stuffing". According to Google's guidelines keyword stuffing refers to the practice of loading a webpage with keywords or numbers in an attempt to manipulate a site's ranking in Google search results. Often these keywords appear in a list or group, or out of context (not as natural prose). Furthermore, Webopedia.com states search engines often penalize a site if the engine discovers keyword stuffing, as this practice is considered poor netiquette, and some search engines will even ban the offending pages from their search results.

Is this a practice that you want to follow?

Search engine optimization is a subject that many don't know much about or can keep up with the ever changing rules of the search engines. So when you are writing your press releases, posting videos to your profile, use 3 or 4 relevant keywords or phrases. Let the "experts" do what they do best and don't try and over-think SEO. You do what you do best and market your business on the best platform on the Internet - IBOtoolbox!
