Review on HTC Desire Review

The HTC Desire is US Cellulars best cell phone. Following the Legend, HTC continues its Android 2.1 lineup with the Desire a gorgeous cousin of the renowned Nexus One. With speedy processor and a huge screen, the Desire definitely lives up to its name, and even trumps its Google-branded twin, the Nexus One.

HTC Desire Review

The handset measures 4.7 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick and weighs 4.76 ounces, so its not too big and not too small. If youre counting, thats 2g heavier than the iPhone 3Gand the exact same weight as the iPhone 3GS - and that makes it very pocket friendly indeed. The soft touch housing is a mixture of black and dark grey, and looks a bit rounder than the Incredibles. On the outside, its just modest, dark grey plastic, although there are a couple of design tweaks that set it apart from the Nexus One. The 1GHz Snapdragon processor keeps things running smoothly, and call quality is good.

The handset features a 3.7-inch, WVGA (800480) capacitive touch screen thats beautiful and sharp, so whether youre reading Web pages, text, or viewing video and photos, youre getting a great experience. Unfortunately, it gets rather hard to use in direct sunlight, even with the brightness set to its maximum value. Unlike the iPhone, it will play Flash in the Web browser, and it supports 3GP, 3G2, MP4 and WMV video files.

The Desire is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. There are various camera options available to you. The Desires 5-megapixel camera takes decent shots in good light, and the LED photo light is handy when its dark, although it tends to be quite harsh. Similarly, for video capture the Desire, Nexus One and Legend offer 800 x 480, 720 x 480 and 640 x 480 resolutions respectively. You can zoom in on a photo you have taken and it still looks sharp and the photo browser is very user friendly. The camera is fast to start, with hardly any shutter lag.

With a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the HTC Desire was able to keep up with our demands with no problem. The Desire also offers an excellent address book that pulls in contacts and photos from Outlook, Facebook, Gmail and Flickr. The HTC Desire ships with a 1,400mAh lithium ion battery with a rated talk time of 5 hours and up to 10.6 days of standby time.

Offering speed, style and every feature under the sun, is the HTC Desire is good. If you like handsets with compact size and feel willing to sacrifice extra features for it, you better consider the HTC Legend.

I love the HTC Desire, unfortunately it's a bit expensive in South Africa. I got the WildFire instead. It's got much the same specs as the Desire, just a bit less expensive.
