Lazy days, theres nothing wrong with that, but how many times have you sat down to watch TV just for the sake of watching TV? Without a specific program in mind, even? Now, youre already in front of the TV with a drink and a snack, surfing channels and trying to find ANYTHING interesting. A few hours later you come back down to earth, having just watched something absolutely mindless, only half-interesting, that you never would have cared about seeing under any other circumstances except for the fact that it was on. Its not the notion that this generation watches more TV than previous ones that is alarming, but rather its the fact that well watch things simply because they are there. How many channels do you have access to? The average cable package is roughly fifty channels, give or take, which frankly isnt enough these days to satisfy the diverse tastes weve all got. Most people are spending over a dollar a day for cable TV access, which doesnt sound like much but it can add up very fast, especially when you simply arent getting the value you should be from cable companies. On the Internet, we all know how easy it is to find content that is specifically suited to our personal interests, its practically flying off the screen at us, so why have we been so willing to settle for less when it comes to TV?

Theres a certain group of people who NEVER settle for less. They have expectations from their technology. These people are Macintosh users, but what does this have to do with TV? Well, it seems like a big part of Apples turnaround in recent years really started with the iPod. Apple brilliantly filled a need that existed in the marketplace for users to take control of their entertainment experiences. You dont need to listen to the radio and hope that a couple songs you like just happen to come on when you have an entire library of music in the palm of your hand, right?.
