It's not just disasters that make you glad you stored food, I have been doing it for 40 years and had to dip into it on many occasions. In between jobs, temporary financial demands like a new appliance or car cutting your food budget short and many more. If a true disaster hits, stored food will be worth much more than gold will.

One of the best articles of great importance, in order to act in a clear, timely and safe from the
emergencies, the Emergency Plan document sets out actions
Specific to develop according to each of the possible emergencies
identified during the analysis of risk and vulnerability.

Two of my family members suffered through a horrific tornado in the spring of 2003 and lost everything. They were totally depending upon someone for help which was definitely slow to arrive since the tornado occurred on a Sunday morning before dawn.

I have not suffered the affects of a tornado, however, I did with an ice storm that left me without power or heat for almost 2 weeks and it was as very difficult time. After that event I started by emergency kit. As stated by Oldbuddy it just good to have supplies stored.
