Calcium hypochlorite is an inorganic compound with formula Ca(OCl)2. It is the main active ingredient of commercial products called bleaching powder.
This compound is comparatively stable, is analogous to hypochlorite in disinfection properties and has greater available chlorine than hypochlorite (Liquid bleach).

But, however, on the other hand It has excellent stability when kept in dry storage, maintaining its potency over time. Commercial grades of Ca (OCl) 2 generally contain about 70% available chlorine making it appropriate for both beverage and wastewater applications.
