YouTube releases new Loop button in 2021

by Alicia Brown Application Developer

YouTube is the biggest streaming platform. You can watch endless videos; listen to music all in one simple app. The popular app is a must-have for users all over the world.

YouTube, despite hosting a large portion of the world's music, lacks some key elements that are available on other music streaming services. However, YouTube has been experimenting with new music-friendly features like listening controls and, most recently, a proper Loop button for mobile.

YouTube’s New Feature

DroidMaze initially saw the button a few days ago, although it appeared to be a very restricted test at the time. The test looks to be spreading a little more widely now that more users are reporting seeing it. It seems it will take some time before the button is fully rolled out.

Looping should be a useful and welcome feature for users who are stuck on specific songs or videos, or who appreciate soundtracks, playlists-built-as-a-single-video, ASMR, and like to play music in the background while doing various tasks.

Oddly, YouTube has yet to integrate it on mobile. Even on the web, where it already exists, it's tucked away in the right-click menu on videos and does not appear near the play/pause buttons. So perhaps the development team has realized that there are some legitimate reasons why you'd want to watch the same video over and over.

Bottom Line

YouTube’s new feature for sure has appeal, especially for music enthusiasts. We’ll have to wait for the Loop button to be completely rolled out to check out its full functionality. In other news, there seems to be a surge in gallery cleaner apps. The rise coincides with the trend of utility apps, mainly due to the pandemic.
