Is there a need to tackle bullying?
Bullying has risen significantly over the last decade, with figures alarmingly stating now that up to 28% of students (children of ages 12 – 18) have been subjected to bullying during their academic time at school.

This figure was taken in 2013 by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and from the National Center for Education Statistics Institute of Education Sciences (IES).

The DHHS reported that 1 in 3 US students have suffered from some form of bullying during their time at school.

In this day and age, it is more important than ever to learn the skills of self-defense, so you can prevent yourself in having a long-term problem.

How will self-defense resolve bullying?
Bullies are often troubled; they have either been subjected to bullying themselves or they are under peer pressure from their friends to be top dog. By applying self-defense martial arts, you will not only fend off the bully, but you will also deter them from coming back for any future return!

Note:
A bully won’t challenge someone if they know they will be beaten! Bullies actively look for victims that are weaker, so they are able to feel more powerful and to look good for their reputation! (And they definitely do not want to risk the embarrassment of being overcome by their victim, especially in front of their peers and friends)

What if it’s a group of bullies?
Learning martial arts, especially Muay Thai, will give you the upper hand against even a group of fighters who have had no training.

Tip:  If in a bullying circumstance by a group, it is often effective to use self-defense skills against the ring leader. Not only will this damage group morale, but more than likely the surrounding friends won’t follow up.
