World Class Megacities In India - Khargar And Panvel In Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai is being developed taking lessons from the past. CIDCO (City and Industrial development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd.) is developing Navi Mumbai such that the new townships should not suffer the pain of poor roads, blocked drains etc. CIDCO is developing Navi Mumbai with an ambition to make win it a place among one of the best cities to live in the world. Navi Mumbai ranges from Vashi to Kalamboli. CIDCO developed two great townships in Navi Mumbai. One is Khargar and the other is Panvel. These two townships have changed the way we have been looking at infrastructure sector.

New Panvel is ideally located on the east of Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. This connects New Panvel with the rest of India very well via road. Also Panvel is one of the most important junctions of the Konkan railway which connects it with other parts of the country via railways as well. There is an international airport proposed in Navi Mumbai, very close to Panvel. Panvel also has several industries surrounding it. Industry giants like L&T, Reliance, ONGC, IPCL etc. are located here. The strategic location, excellent connectivity and multiple industries have made Panvelto be shortlisted for development. Panvel development has been carried out by CIDCO very carefully. There are big builders & constructors building world class infrastructure. The residential complexes not only have budget homes, there are even luxury apartments. Additionally, there are several commercial spots as well to fulfill the needs of the residents here and also schools, colleges and hospitals. Panvel development was broadcasted on Nat Geo’s “Super Cities of the World” series.

Another CIDCO dream project is Khargar development. Khargar is located on the SionPanvel Highway at a short driving distance from Mumbai. Khargar has multiple ready to go residential apartments as well as commercial hubs. CIDCO divided Khargar in 45 sectors and developing them strategically. While Panvel has lots of industries around the city.Khargar is developed with beauty. It has a golf course with a central park in opposite. Once completed this park will have jogging track, food courts, fountains etc. ISKCON is also building biggest ISKCON temple in India in Khargar. UtsavChowk is another park in Khargar. It looks very beautiful when illuminated at night. CIDCO also developed a skywalk in Khargar to connect the city and the railway station. It is 1780 meter long making it the longest skywalk in India made yet. Khargar also has esteemed education centres and medical institutions. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is there, Tata Memorial Hospital is there as well.

The development of these two cities   are the most ambitious projects of CIDCO in Navi Mumbai. These townships are developed keeping all the things in one place and yet developing the townships in an eco-friendly way. CIDCO is not developing a concrete jungle as it is in Delhi NCR, rather it has left very much open area and also connecting the cities very well with the other parts of the country.
