Wooden High Chair - A Classic For Babies

by Marc W. Owner

The wooden high chair has been around for about fifteen hundred. They were much simpler and a little less streamlined than the styles of modern times. They were designed for practical reasons and not much attention was paid to safety. The type of days gone by were tables high and usually a rope or leather strap that was tied around a small child. Babies rarely sat on these chairs, as most are reared. They were used for young children up to the age of seven.

A modern day one comes in many different styles but safety is the number one concern. A modern day style designed with safety and aesthetics in mind. Although they are still very attractive, a tall chair is very practical. They seem to come in and out of fashion but are always a staple and are always available in the market. The new plastic highchairs that are available are not durable or attractive. They come in a variety of wood grains and in a variety of styles. A modern day variety usually has a removable tray for easy cleaning and always has a very efficient restraint system to provide the maximum in safety. A lot of thought is given to modern-day high chairs. If there are spindles, each spindle is measured to make sure the short arms don't get stuck.

There is only one competition in the wooden high chair and that is the plastic chair. There have been a few metal models but they never caught on the way to the plastic chair. The plastic high chair has lost its appeal over the years due to the green movement. A wooden chair is processed using far fewer chemicals than its plastic counterpart. A wood is more of a piece of furniture than a plastic one, and wood is more aesthetically pleasing than plastic.
