There are plenty of reasons why, when traveling or even living in a certain place, you would choose to eat at the standard franchise restaurants. Their menus familiar and consistent throughout the country, so you know what you’re getting every time you sit down. They’re comfortable in that you’ve probably been to one or more before and you feel more at home. And, honestly, sometimes you just like the food.

But the fear of trying something new can sometimes keep you from finding some really great local spots that offer something different and unique that you definitely won’t find at a chain restaurant. And there are many reasons why, sometimes, the local haunt is a better choice. When you’re considering a corner bar in Tampa, FL, think of some of the reasons it may give you a different experience than the old standard.

Outdoor Seating

A lot of times, these smaller local eateries have an eclectic space. From décor, to seating you’ll find many things are different than a typical chain restaurant with it’s plain wooden chairs or booths. Many times, you’ll find these smaller places have quaint outdoor seating areas that make your dining experience that much more enjoyable, especially in the Florida sunshine! Often, with the smaller places the rules are less formal and you can even bring your dog to enjoy happy hour with you. How cool is that!

Menu Selections

Whereas chain restaurants have to abide by the sometimes-strict rules of the franchise, independently owned, smaller locations don’t have those rules so they’re free to be creative with the menu selections. With such a vast array of seafood available in Florida, you can imagine how it lends itself to some incredible menu creations. Many times, if you’re a regular customer of one of these smaller places you can often find out about specials ahead of time and be more in the know.

Relationships Matter More

Another perk of being a regular customer of one of these smaller establishments is that you often become really a part of the restaurant family. How special is it to walk into a restaurant and have the staff not only know your name, but have your drink ready and make menu suggestions based on what you’ve ordered before? Forging those relationships make the whole dining experience different and more pleasurable for you as the customer. All of these are great reasons to choose a smaller corner bar in Tampa, FL over a big chain restaurant.
