Why the cost of CBD > THC?
by Digital Solution Expert Digital Solution ExpertCBD and THC, as you may know, are interrelated products but is very
different from each other. Both CBD and THC is a by-product of the Cannabis.
But one has psychoactive properties and others completely free from this
property. To understand this better first understand what is CBD and THC
individually.
What is CBD?
CBD is an abbreviation of Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is an extract of the
industrial hemp plant which is derived from cannabis. Cannabidiol is
non-psychoactive, meaning that it doesn’t have properties to affect cognitive
functioning of the brain and get you high. It's one of 108 compounds found in
the cannabis plant. CBD is said to have anti-inflammatory properties and agents
like omega-6 and omega-3 which are moisturizing in nature. CBD also interacts
with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) and its receptors. ECS is a system
in our body which interacts with its receptors like skin and instructs it to
keep it healthy. CBD comes in three potencies full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and
Isolate. It is consumed Depending on a person’s tolerance level. Three major
categories on the shelf are topicals, edibles and tinctures.
What is THC?
THC is one of many compounds found in the secreted resin by the
marijuana plant. THC has major psychoactive effects. It stimulates the brain to
release dopamine, creating euphoria. It also interferes with the part in the
brain called the hippocampus which is responsible for forming new memories. THC
is completely classified as a drug by the government as is completely banned.
Like CBD no useful properties of THC is stated. CBD is still anti-inflammatory
but THC is nothing but a drug. Hemp extract which again is derived from CBD
might have 0.3% or less trace of THC. But anything above that is prohibited. As
stated above THC is a banned compound, so if any traces of THC is in hemp plant
above the guided limit can ban the hemp plant too. This is the reason Hemp and
CBD processing is highly guarded.
Why is CBD more expensive than
THC?
Selling THC is banned, the only way to buy THC is the black market and
if caught there are strict punishments for it. Whereas CBD is creating a buzz,
its popularity is word of mouth and independent studies. The claimed properties
of the CBD is the reason it's getting so much attention. Very less manufacturer
are there in the market and that’s the reason it’s expensive, clearly the
concept of high demand and selective supply. Another reason it’s expensive
because CBD is processed with high technology and the process is very
expensive. High-end technology is used to make sure zero traces of THC in CBD
oil.
The reasons stated above can give you a fair idea on the basic difference between THC and CBD and also why there is a vast difference in the prices. THC is banned, but you would also want to know CBD isn't approved by the FDA or any other government authority either. Anything you buy or use should be under proper guidance.
