Why should you Eat Organic Cheese?

by Zill Davis Civil Lawyer

If you love cheese (and other dairy products) then choosing a favorite one could be a tough task. Whether it is Cheddar or Mozzarella you simply cannot have enough. But for some years now, there has been a growing concern about the consumption of dairy products. In the past few years, you may have heard various health experts talk about the harmful effects of dairy products that are not produced organically. However, luckily for most cheese lovers, there is an alternative available - organic cheese.

Why is Organic Cheese Better?

As you might already be aware, organically produced items do not just offer additional health benefits but are also a more sustainable choice. Moreover, they are ethically produced. Whether you are purchasing organic honey or cheese you can rest assured that they were produced naturally without the use of synthetic hormones, antibiotics, or harmful pesticides.

The milk that is used for producing organic cheese comes from cows that are fed only organically grown fodder. Thus, this cheese is made without adding any artificial flavors or colors. It is also free of the enzyme rennet which is often used to curdle the milk.

Rennet is usually sourced from the stomachs of young calves. It has no nutritional value and hence, should be avoided. Moreover, this means that even vegetarians can enjoy organic cheese.

Why Should You Buy Organic?

A good and balanced diet is the key to living a long and healthy life. Hence, if there’s one aspect of your life that you shouldn’t shy away from investing in - it’s food. However, while doing this it is important to make sure that you are investing in food that is genuinely good and is packed with nutrition rather than just purchasing something that is appealing to the eyes.

For instance, conventionally produced cheese might look smoother and better as it is created by using artificial chemicals. Organic cheese on the other hand is superior in quality and taste and has even received recognition from cheese connoisseurs globally.

Moreover, when you invest in organic cheese, you aren’t just purchasing better quality cheese but you are also investing in your health and that of your loved ones as well as making a contribution towards animal welfare. Buying organic also positively affects the environment and reduces your carbon footprint.

How Does Organic Cheese Affect Your Health?

Organic Cheese is loaded with all the goodness of the old regular cheese, that is, it is a great source of calcium as well as proteins. However, research has shown that since the cows consume fodder that is grown organically, the cheese has a higher nutritional value:

  • ·        It has been found that organic cheese contains antioxidants 2 to 3 times more than regular cheese. It has also been found that organic milk has 50% more vitamin E and 75% more beta-carotene than regular milk. All of these help in fighting against the free radicals present in the body that have damaging effects.
  • ·        Organic milk also tends to contain around 71% more omega-3s than milk that is produced using conventional methods.
  • ·        Organic cheese also does not contain the chemicals and toxins that are injected into the animals or are added to the milk during the processing. Thus, the health of your family is in safe hands.
