Why Retailers & Tie-Dye Artists Purchase White Sarongs at Wholesale Prices

by Ranny Watson Blogger

There are many reasons why retailers and dye-artists purchase white sarongs at wholesale prices. Most of the time it’s because of affordability, profitability, and quality. However, there are other reasons as well; some of them are listed below.

  • White sarongs at wholesale prices are quite popular for many reasons. As a matter of fact, their flexibility and affordability are what make them valued by customers. The word ‘sarong’ implies the general length, width and feel of the fabric and the fibers of which it is made. It can be made of silk, cotton or most commonly rayon. Now hugely popular in the U.S., something like it has been traditionally worn by both by men and women in many parts of the world: Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands, Africa, and others.

  • Especially in the Pacific Islands, sarongs are very common and are considered practical and stylish.

  • One of the major reasons why retailers are buying white sarongs at wholesale prices for their customers is to be worn while vacationing. To wear them, sarongs are most commonly worn around the waist and can also be tied in many other ways.

  • There are many different dyeing methods for a sarong. Tie-dye, batik and ikat are several well known methods. Batik is an ancient dyeing method which originated in Java and it comes from the Javanese word ‘tik’ which means a dot. This method involves applying hot wax over portions of the cloth to retain the original color. After this process, the cloth is dyed.

  • Tie-dye is the most popular method for dyeing.  Tie-Dye artists buy white sarongs or other tie-dye blanks, and use rubber bands to tie the piece in specific shapes.  Dyes are then applied to different parts of the bundled up sarong.

  • The process can be repeated multiple times in order to add various shades and different colors to the cloth. When the dyeing is complete, the wax is removed and the fabric is all ready to use. Modern Batik dyeing is different from the traditional one. In the present era, artists use different fabrics, tools, and materials like etching, stencils and various other combinations of waxes to achieve and inspire the final result.

  • Then comes ‘ikat’ which is a tribal print and dyeing method that was historically used in Southeast Asia. The word literally means to bind or tie together. The fabric is dyed and then woven and it is differentiated with the feathered edge or a blurred design to weave the fabric. In the present era, ikat is commonly distinguished by triangular shapes. Many of the ikat prints are differentiated using bold colors.

To conclude, it may be observed that white sarongs can be used in many different ways and can worn in many different styles. The dyeing methods are easy and the white sarongs are super stylish. This is why retailers and tie-dye artists are continuously aiming to buy white sarongs at wholesale prices.
