Why Practice is more important than Learning?

by Atul M. Owner at TechServeGo
Leaning and practicing are two different sides of a single coin. Each one is complete without another one. Learning is a process of knowing about something that you or may not already know about. You can learn to do something or learn about something. Practice is the actual or real-life implementation of your knowledge. In other words, practice is the process of rehearsing something over and over.

The best thing about practice is that you gets better after each iteration. As many times you practice something, as better you become at it.

Now, learning and practicing are two different things, yet connected to each other. It is not a nice idea to compare these two as both these have their own importance. Here, we will try to figure out why Practice is so important, even more important than learning.

Practice is +1 to zero: When you do not know about something, you are at zero level. But when you study/read it, you come up at 1 and each time you practice it, you just add +1 to your knowledge. This is how practice works. It polishes up your already acquired knowledge.

Practice is interesting: Practical approach is always preferred by students rather than theoretical one because it is interesting. It is a nice experience to experience something practically rather than just reading them in the books. It gives you more exposure of the subject/thing.

Knowledge is retained in your mind: Practicing stores the knowledge permanently in your mind. When you read something once, it is stored in your temporary mind, but when you revise/practice it, it gets promoted to the permanent part of the mind. This is why practice is considered so important for exams.

Better understanding: Try to learn a difficult topic in the practical way and see the benefits. It is easier and faster to learn something with good practice. If you can't understand the concept of a mathematics topic, try solving some of its problems and you will definitely get better at it.

Learn new things: Practice increases the creativity and eagerness of students and they try to learn new things every time they practice. When you get the real-life experience of a problem, you can find multiple ways to solve it. Then, you can easily choose the best one.

Practice is Easy: It is. You can learn something by struggling with the theory part or by practicing with the problems. If you can't remember a formula, solve some problems based on that formula and you will get into practice of using it.

Increases creativity: Practice needs full dedication and presence of mind. It activates that part of the brain which is usually in the rest state. When your brain works actively, ideas pop-up and you became even more creative. Try this.

There is practice involved in almost everything. It depends on whether you go with the theoretical approach or the practical one. Keep practicing.
