A good health of a women is very important in the modern lifestyle. Today, more number of women are falling prey to the longing problem of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS which has caused a situation of turmoil in their lives. The condition of a PCOS makes it difficult for a woman to conceive and this fact makes the situation even worse. Although, there are many options available such as IVF treatment or a Test Tube Baby treatment which can be successfully treated at the Test Tube Baby Treatment Center in Mohali, it is very important to know what causes PCOS and why this problem has become so common among the women today.

Following are the reasons of why PCOS has become so common in the present time:

1.    Insulin Resistance:
Insulin resistance is considered to be a big problem attached to the problem of PCOS. Around 1 in 4 adults are affecting by this problem which is nothing but a result of too much sugar intake in our diet. Other reasons such as obesity, trans fat, smoking, stress, etc. are also responsible for the condition. Insulin resistance is estimated to affect around 50-70 percent of the sufferers of PCOS and it contributes to the latter ailment, thereby making the condition difficult for you.

2.    Misdiagnosis by Ultrasound:
A proper diagnosis of the problem of PCOS needs a clinical evidence which includes irregular periods combined with a blood tests which shows the level of high androgens. The ultrasound finding of the condition is also carried out to figure out whether a woman is suffering from PCOS or not. However, you cannot rely on this finding alone to diagnose the condition of PCOS. This is because polycystic ovaries occur in around 25 percent of normal women as well as in the women who are on birth control pills. Thus, you cannot really attach the tag of PCOS to a normal woman based solely on the result of ultrasound finding. A wrong diagnosis aggravates the condition for sure.

3.    Post-Pill Syndrome:
Another reason which is increasing the incidence of PCOS in the women lately is the post-pill syndrome or the birth control pills. A number of women today do not get their period again after the stopping of their pill. This pill also disrupts in the regular menstrual cycle. Also, some of the women do not have regular periods before they consume the pill, but right after they do it, their periods are gone again. Thus, for these women, the clear cause of hypothalamic amenorrhea and PCOS is the consumption of these pills and nothing else.

Although a strong research hasn’t been done on whether the pill causes the problem of PCOS or not, yet the pill happens to cause an insulin resistance, which sure is one of the main reasons that contributes to the problem of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in women. Moreover, the birth control pill suppresses the communication in between the pituitary gland and the ovaries which disturbs the entire menstrual cycle and hence disrupts the level of two major hormones that contribute to fertility in women.
