Why Later Months Are the Best Time to Install Fences

by Kevin Smith Author

You’ve had your eyes on this wood fence in Tampa, FL, for quite some time, but you may not be sure when you want the fence installation team arriving to place it around your house yet. It’s understandable that you might debate with yourself on when you want them to come. Homeowners have all sorts of different recommendations, but not all of them have the same weather and living conditions that you have. The early fall is typically one of the more recommended times to update or get these fences built, but Florida homeowners may want to consider waiting slightly longer for the following reasons:

A Warm Advantage

Florida is one of the hottest states to live in out of the nation. Even during the winter, it rarely ever drops below 50 or even 60 degrees outside. Meanwhile, most of the other northern states are covered in snow and ice while struggling to stay above twenty degrees in the late fall and early winter months.

In most states, fence installation companies cannot operate during these times of the year. Living in Florida means you have plenty of flexibility on when you want your preferred company to begin construction or renovation. These companies still typically aren’t as busy during these months as they are in the late spring and summer, which means you won’t have too long of a wait period when you choose your time and you get more opportunities to work closely with the team.

Hurricane Holdups

While it is great being able to book a time for fence installation for any month of the year, Florida does have one disadvantage in the late summer and early fall. It is more vulnerable to major hurricanes than any other state in the south. While each storm can vary on when it arrives, scientists have determined September to be the peak month for hurricane activity.

Even if your state has been lucky enough to avoid these storms within recent years, the routes these storms take change every year. It’s better to wait on installing that wood fence in Tampa, FL, once you no longer have to worry about hurricanes later this year. Otherwise, you may end up having to install these barriers around your house twice in the same year. It also benefits the fence installation team because they’ll have less rain-soaked ground to deal with while operating in your yard. There are generally less rainy days in the fall, but that might not be the case if your city ends up near the line of fire for these massive storms.
