Why is Internet Security Required With Technology Being So Advanced?

by milton ferrara CEO

There is a large number of people that ask this question – if the technology is so advanced, how can computer hackers or others spy on our data? They make a good point because surely everything that passes through the internet wries today should be encrypted. Well for the most part it is, but the encryption is very basic. This is partly because using encryption means sending more data and thus slows down the entire internet – now that is a very basic way of explaining it, so do not take that as the be and end all explanation.

It is far quicker and easier to send data via the internet using fewer data packets. It is also very hard to piece all of these packets together as data is not always sent in just a single chunk of information. It is sent in sequences that make sure the message gets through. Where cyberattackers come in is at the point in which they capture these packets and piece them together. They have software that can quite easily unwrap outer layers of the packets to read the signature in order to find out its destination.

After unwrapping a large number of these data packets, the ones with the same destination addresses on them can be pieced together and information pulled from this data. Now, this is no easy task because most of the time the data being sent is quite innocent, so for someone looking to commit cyber fraud, it may seem like hard work gathering all this information for nothing.

Well, actually the cybercriminals use advanced software so it is the software doing all the hard work. The wasted intercepted packets are also discarded by the software. Therefore, there is not a hacker just sitting there opening messages and banging his or her head against the table each time it terms out to be an unusual piece of data for their criminal money spinning machine.

The software is set to earmark/flag keywords in data that it unravels from these data packets. This is how these cybercriminals are able to gain access to the critical information they need to commit their crime. As you can imagine though, the actual process behind this is not easy and the cybercriminals would have had to train for a long time to earn exactly how to use the software to get around sécurité internet.

What makes things easier for these cybercriminals is us. Yes, that’s right – human beings as in us. Not using anti0virus software or not connecting via a virtual private network with high encryption on it when we are using public networks to surf the internet. We are also very guilty of using stupid passwords, and it is still amazing just how many people will use a password like ‘Ilove2pac’ or just a plain password without any numbers or characters in it such as *%$@ and so on.

Always be wary of how you connect to the internet. Make sure you use antivirus software and even better still have VPN software installed on all your devices – especially your mobile devices if you plan to connect to WiFi networks in public no matter how well you know the place. So make sure you check out protection vie privée for more information on how to protect yourself.
