Why India is the best business destination for the American Companies?

by Sofia A. Business
As the world's most populous democracy and one of the fastest-growing, India is a major economic powerhouse. It is the fifth-largest economy in the world in terms of gross domestic product. However, foreign companies and investors will find it difficult to break into this market. There has been a downturn in the global economy that has affected India's growth estimates from the World Bank, the Reserve Bank of India, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Affordability and simplicity

According to the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Report, India ranks 63rd out of 190 nations surveyed. It's an increase of 14 spots over last year. In a separate poll, the Ease of Starting a Business, India ranks 136th out of 176 countries.

According to a World Bank report, India's rankings have improved as a result of its efforts in the aforementioned areas. Delhi and Mumbai are two of the most popular cities in India. Between 2015 and 2017, GDP growth was negatively impacted by the government's demonetisation campaign and inadequate implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). In the intervening years, however, the administration has begun on an ambitious reform route and has been ranked among the world's top five reformers. This is a huge accomplishment for India, given its size. Also there are organizations like American Chambers of Commerce that assist the budding American companies in establishing their businesses in India.

Advantages of conducting business in India

First and foremost, a stable economy.

An estimated $ 3 trillion in GDP is expected to be generated by 2022 in the budget for 2021. In the last decade, India's yearly GDP growth rate of 6-7 percent has been the highest in the world. The National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) is a $1.5 trillion investment plan unveiled by the government for 2019. The goal is to make it easier for investors from other countries to put money into infrastructure and social programmes.

Boosting New Business Ventures

As a top start-up destination, India is inviting countries from around the world to set up shop in the country. As part of an effort to promote start-up culture and establish an entrepreneurial ecosystem in India, Startup India was founded in 2016. The government currently recognises 50,000 new businesses. Application and product development, food processing, and information technology all experienced a high number of new start-ups. The government has taken a crucial step by reducing the number of forms new businesses must fill out.

Make in India

It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who first announced the "Make in India" initiative in 2014. Construction of the manufacturing infrastructure, facilitation of foreign investment, creation of jobs, and encouragement of innovation were the goals of this project. It motivates Indian producers to produce goods that are of a higher grade than those found elsewhere in the world.

In Delhi and Mumbai, the government has implemented an online system to expedite the process of obtaining municipal licences. There has been a significant reduction in the time it takes to obtain a building permit. The cost of building a warehouse is now only 4% of the total cost of the facility.

India's digital economy

India's government is attempting to link the country digitally. People who want to establish an online business are inspired by this. There are numerous universities that provide courses in data analytics and digital marketing, resulting in a well-educated workforce.

Final Words

It takes 36 licences to start a restaurant in Bengaluru compared to just four in China or Singapore, for example. It's possible to improve in other areas, as well. Organizations like AMCHAM India are established to help the American companies face these challenges.
