Why are Soy-Wax Candles Becoming so Popular?

by Toshni Sharma Content Writer

Once used for their functional purposes, most candles have now become a part of home decor. They were once used to illuminate dark places, but have not been used for this purpose ever since the discovery of electricity and the invention of the light bulb.

Of all uses of candles today, Spreading fragrance is one of the only functional roles that candle lights enjoy.

While they are made of many different kinds of raw products, like soy wax, paraffin wax etc. Lately, scented candles have gained some popularity and among the many different kinds- soy wax is emerging victorious as it is most preferred by people. And here’s why-

Natural

Made using vegetable soybeans, soy wax is a natural wax that is found in abundance. It is extracted from the bean and the rest of the leftover flakes are fed to animals. This is different from many other waxes as they are made from various methods; like how paraffin wax is made of petroleum. Petroleum is a finite, non-renewable resource while soy is a renewable resource.

Longer Life Span

Making a soy-based decorative candle does not take up a lot of time. Since it is easier to make, the preparation of the finished product is pretty quick too. In the case of petroleum, the natural process of petroleum formation takes up millions of years. The extraction is just as difficult as well. Moreover, the life of the wick and the designer candles itself is longer in soy wax candles.

Cleaner Fuel

One of the best things about soy wax is that it is a much cleaner fuel than paraffin wax, or other kinds of wax is. It releases little to no soot in the environment. The smoke of the scented candles online is also cleaner and thus is a healthier option as well. Because the smoke that is released on the burning of the soy wax is so much cleaner, it is much less likely to release allergens and it is easier in the lungs.

Easier To Clean

Soy wax has a melting that is much lower than that of other kinds of wax. It is easier to light up and is easier to clean as well. In case of a spill, all you need is warm water and then you can remove all the wax. If you make your candles, you can clean your utensils easily as warm water or even a dishwasher can easily melt the wax away!

Adaptable

You can easily mix soy wax with other kinds of wax as they can easily mix with other materials. This is also one of the primary reasons that people use soy wax for making perfume candles. Mixing smells and perfumes in with the wax is way easier. Since it is bio-degradable, it would not harm the environment even when discarded.

Stronger Fragrance

Soy wax is a substance that can hold a lot of fragrance. The smells are emitted from the melted wax and its vapour. Since the melting point of the wax is lesser than other kinds of wax, it pools around the wick, releasing its flavorful aroma in the air at a much quicker rate. Moreover, despite this, the wax and the wick last for a lot longer when compared to other kinds of candles

Eco-Friendly

Soy-based wax is 100% biodegradable. This makes them a great source of energy, as soybean can be used for other purposes as well and would still be useful even if the wax was extracted. Not only is soy wax good for you and a much safer option in general, but it is also good for the environment. Moreover, it is made using environmentally friendly methods, unlike petroleum-based paraffin wax.

Easy use and a wide range of benefits have made soy wax candles; either scented or otherwise, a popular addition to our homes. They are easier on the home, environment as well as user, especially in the case of spills. Moreover, soy-based decorative candles online are better at transmitting fragrance as well. And so, despite the cost increase, people prefer soy wax candles. You can get fragrance candles online and decorate your home with the warm smells of scented candles.
