Why are current affairs important
by Anil Attri Service providerWhat role do current affairs play in the present scenario? The question here arises that why is it important for every candidate every student who is appearing for any competitive examination to stay in touch with current affairs. However, the meaning lies deeper and it has much more significance than what we attach to it.
Current affairs are result of information for various spheres of
life; it covers different fields like economy, politics, science and
technology and much more. It educates us about the prevailing issues and
conditions of our economy. Be it business news, Page 3 gossips,
international issues all these information can only be obtained if a
person is in touch with the newspaper. Adding on there are also
different types of magazines that indeed help every candidate to provide
a subjective interface about the latest topics.Adding on, not only to
stay updated but because in some or the other way it contributes to the
personal enrichment of an individual as a whole. General knowledge has
been defined as in “differential psychology” as culturally valued
knowledge that is communicated by a specific range of non-specialist
media and encompassing a wide range of subject. Today every school and
college focuses on acquainting the students with the current affairs of
the world. This is an effort to build in the student to stay updated and
aware.
Be it civil services, management exams, bank recruitment examination, or
international relations examinations all of them require a basic
knowledge of current affairs. It is not possible for any person to clear
such exams without knowing current affairs. However, general knowledge
and current affairs are integral part of the competitive exams that are
held in India. The importance of both these factors hold good not just
for the written exams but also for the group discussions and interview
stage. Bank exams such as IBPS and also UPSC, each and every panel
sitting in these institutions require a great hold of general knowledge
in an individual during the selection process.
Every sector in the present scenario aims to recruit individuals who are
well aware of the present condition of his/her country which would give
him/her a broader perception and a clearer vision. For instance, the
CWE examination that is common entrance exams, conducted by IBPS,
demands that candidates should not only be good in textual knowledge but
also have a world view of the current affairs.
