Top Engineering Entrance Exams in India 

Every year, a number of engineering entrance exams are held in India each year – national level, state level and university level.


  1. JEE Main - Joint Entrance Examination, Mains is a national level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). JEE Main exam is being held twice a year - January and April. The best of two scores is considered for admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The examination is divided into two papers – Paper 1 is for B.Tech/B.E and Paper 2 is for B.Arch or B.Planning. Also, JEE Main is a qualifying examination for JEE Advanced. 


  1. JEE Advanced - Joint Entrance Examination, Advanced is a gateway to get admission into the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). The top 2,50,000 JEE Main qualified students are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced. Every year, JEE Advanced is conducted by one of the seven IITs that constitute the council. 


  1. BITSAT- Birla Institute of Science and Technology Admission Test (BITSAT) is conducted by BITS Pilani for admission into the engineering courses offered by the BITS campuses. BITSAT is a university level entrance test conducted each year for admissions, however, it should be noted that board toppers are given direct admissions and thus are exempted from appearing in BITSAT.


  1. KCET - Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is responsible for conducting KCET exam. Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is a state level examination conducted for admission into the undergraduate engineering courses offered by the participating institutes of the state.
