Where Are You Actually Allowed To Vape In The UK?

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

What with vaping still being relatively new to many of us, it’s understandable – especially if you have only taken it up recently – if you aren’t entirely sure about the legalities surrounding it.

Even just the basic question of where you can use the e-liquids you might have sourced from £1 Vape may be a confusing one for you. Is vaping simply treated as basically the same as smoking, despite – as we have documented previously in our news section – being much healthier for you?

Restrictions and policies still vary greatly across the country

Of course, the question of what is legal is separate to that of the individual policies that may apply to different establishments and spaces, which confuses the picture a little for prospective vapers.

Nonetheless, the first important thing to know is that there’s no blanket ban on vaping in the United Kingdom. Indeed, the Government has previously voiced its support for the use of electronic cigarettes as an alternative to traditional tobacco products.

The next step, then, is to determine whether any given place you’d like to vape – whether indoors or outdoors – is affected by any lower-level restrictions on e-cigarette use.

What’s the situation for all of the obvious indoor spaces?

You might have been drawn towards vaping in the first place because – unlike smoking – it isn’t banned in fast food restaurants, pubs or cafes. But the administrator of a given establishment may still impose their own policies. Some chain restaurants like Starbucks and KFC, for example, restrict vaping just like they do smoking, whereas others distinguish one from the other.

The big difference between smoking and vaping in such venues, then, is that even if you vape in an establishment with a no-vaping policy, while you may be told to cease such activity, you won’t face any legal repercussions.

Nonetheless, you should still check each site’s vaping policy in advance if you would like to whip out your e-cigarette there. Bear in mind that other public places like large sports stadiums, music venues and concert halls may have strict vaping bans in place, but that smaller venues sometimes take a more relaxed approach.

But outdoor vaping is fine, right?

Well, that depends on what exactly you consider to be ‘outdoors’. Public transport is certainly something to be wary of, for example, as vaping is prohibited on planes, trains, the London Underground, the vast majority of train platforms and many buses as well.

Otherwise, you should think of outdoor spaces as similar to indoor spaces as far as the permissibility of vaping is concerned. In other words, you should always check with the property owner that you will be allowed to vape in a given location.

So, there you go – your essential rundown of where you can, and can’t vape. Now that you have a good idea of the ‘lie of the land’, why not take a look at some of the products you can order online for just £1 a go when you make £1 Vape your favoured Quality E-Liquids Suppliers?
