When To Go To Rehab

by Luxury Rehab Drug and alcohol rehab

Not every addiction is the same, and not everyone will need the same type of recovery. While the world likes to paint addictions as the same in levels of severity, people who have been through them know that’s not the case.

There’s a big difference in the recovery process for someone using drugs to relax, vs someone who’s life is in danger if they don’t quit drugs immediately. One of those differences comes into play with Rehab. When exactly do you go?

It Depends on the Person

Inpatient care for addictions can be very beneficial, after all, the entire environment is dedicated to having you kick your bad habit. No distractions, no temptation, and people around you who are willing to help at a moment’s notice. But sometimes that’s too much for certain people, who just want to kick the habit on their own.

If someone is in the process of quitting or has shown that they can deal with temptations maturely by staying away from them, then rehab might not be for them. However, if that same person has proven that they can’t stop binging and relapsing, then a more structured setting might be for them.

The Effect on Others

For some addicts who pose a danger to themselves (such as with suicidal thoughts stemming from their addiction) or to others, (such as driving under the influence of a substance.) Rehab can be the best way to keep everyone safe. The clinics know how to keep everyone safe and provide training to get a former addict back into society.

Residential Rehab

Many addicts don’t like the idea of Rehab because it forces them to live in an inpatient facility for some amount of time. But recently there has been a surge in residential rehab services, which combine the structure of a Rehab clinic with the freedom of outpatient care.

It’s a longer rehab time than other alternatives, but it also allows patients to take what they’ve learned in the clinics and then use those skills in the outside world. All while maintaining the structure and support of the clinic.

Look at the Person

Every addicted person is at a different stage in their addiction journey, and by looking at where they are, you’ll be able to see what type of support they need. If they need rehab, then gently bring it up and support them through the process. Then, hopefully, they can get the help they need.
