When should your Express Entry profile be updated?

Keep your Express entry profile up-to-date if you want to increase your chances of getting a visa for Canada. This is because there are a number of things you can do to boost your chances of success even after you've submitted your profile to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

When is it most critical to update your Express Entry profile?

1.       You will be able to increase your language skills.

You must be fluent in one of the country's two official languages, English or French, to live, work, or study in Canada. To be considered for an Express Entry programme, you must have a certain level of language ability.

You can always retake the test and upload a higher score, or if you've chosen to learn a new language like French, you could increase your Comprehensive Ranking System Score (CRS) by up to 50 points, regardless of how long your profile has been in the pool!

2.       You will obtain more work experience if you gain more job experience.

Work experience isn't required for all Express Entry programmes, but it can help you get permanent residency in Canada. As previously discussed, work experience is one of the characteristics that Express Entry applicants can use to boost their CRS scores. Applicants should have at least three to five years of work experience to have the highest chance of having a successful visa application.

One programme that demands job experience is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Applicants must have worked in a high-skilled employment in Canada for at least one year in the previous three years to be eligible for this programme.

3.       If you obtain a new certification

A minimum educational qualification is required for the majority of Canadian immigration programmes, while these criteria vary by programme and job. For example, an accountant will require a degree to apply for permanent residency in Canada through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, whereas a plumber may simply need a trade certification to apply for permanent residency in Canada under the Federal Skilled Trade Program.

To verify that credentials earned outside of Canada match Canadian standards, both professions may require an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) and regional or provincial certification.

4.       If you are offered a position in Canada, you should accept it.

Getting a job in Canada is the best method to gain CRS points! Why? Because there's a chance it'll be worth 600 points! However, when constructing your Show Entry Profile at the outset of your application, you must express interest in a specific province. This shows the province or territory that you are serious in immigrating there, and if you match the criteria, you may be granted a Provincial Nomination, for which you will receive 600 points.

5.   If any of your personal information changes after you've submitted your profile, please let us know.

If any of your personal information changes after your Express Entry profile has been submitted and included into the draw pool, you must update it as soon as possible. You might have problems finishing your application if your profile has been chosen and you haven't changed it to reflect the changes.

This is because the IRCC expects you to provide correct and complete information when you submit your personal information. Any departure from the submitted information may be considered misrepresentation, and your visa application to Canada may be denied as a result.
