Kerala is a total nirvana on the planet earth that is situated in the southern part of India. It is one of the most popular travel destinations in this world. This place is termed as ‘God’s Own Country’ and has one of the highest literacy rates. This state is spread between the Western Ghats and the Lakshadweep Sea. The local language used here is Malayalam and people also speak English and Hindi. Kerala has a captivating kaleidoscope which is full of amazing and breathtaking surprises. The stable weather, calm beaches, mesmerizing backwaters, exotic wildlife, luxuriant hill stations, waterfalls, paddy fields and sprawling plantations has contributed in making this state famous among tourists present all across the globe. Tourists can enjoy extensive wildlife sanctuaries present at Thekkady and one of the best beaches at Kovalam. The people of this beautiful city are warm and friendly. The main festival of this state is Onam which is celebrated by every citizen, irrespective of community, caste and creed. This is a harvest festival which is celebrated during the Malayalam month of Chingom that is from August to September. It is traditionally celebrated with lot of enthusiasm. There is one more major festival of Kerala which is celebrated by Hindus on the very first day of Malayalam month of Medam that is from April to May.

There are many pleasant monsoon places to visit in Kerala. The enchanting monsoon destinations are Kovalam, Alappuzha, Munnar, Wayanad, Ashtamudi, Kumarakom, Malappuram, Thekkady and Athirapally. These all places have a fascinating glow in the rainy season. The perfect time to visit Kovalam is December and January. If you wish to enjoy rain then June and July are the months. Alappuzha is a town which is famous for its beautiful backwater and it looks amazing when it is not raining but it is truly gorgeous when there is no rain.

Kerala is remarkably cool and awesome place to travel during Karkidakam which is known as the Malayalam month. The luscious green land appears even greener at the time of rainy days. This is especially known as the month of revival, the month of Ramayana and ayurveda treatments. Many years ago this place was majorly an agricultural area where maximum people were farmers. That’s why shower based dance of Karkidaka was dangerous for them. This was a time of scarcity and famine. The fast change in climate and monsoon brought deadly diseases and epidemics. During this painful time, people retreated to physical fitness and spiritual thoughts. They pursued strict diet so that they can remain healthy and fit. They trusted on Ayurveda medication to get relief. Time has changed many things but few traditional procedures are still used in almost every household located in Kerala.

There is a beautiful hill station namely Munnar in this southern state which is very famous for its hot air balloon festival. It is taking place first time ever in Munnar. If you are an adventure enthusiast then this festival is for you. Hot air ballooning which is present in the form of ‘Tethered Joy Rides’ will take place between April to May. Munnar welcomes its visitors at the time of the rainy season. The special feature of its higher area is that it experiences an occasional rain even when there is no monsoon season.

Kerala climate is widely distributed into four categories that is Southwest Monsoons (June - September), Northeast Monsoons (October – November), winter (December – February) and summer (March – May). The best time to visit this splendid state are months of January to May and September to December. The number of tourists increases in the cool season.
