What's the Taboo of Using Diesel Generator Set in Winter

by Dieselgenerator Tech ***

When ushering in cliff cooling, diesel generator set also experienced high load work in midsummer, once again ushered in cold winter. Dingbo Power reminds you that the humidity, altitude and temperature of the working environment of the diesel generator set will affect the operation of the unit. Users should remember the following taboos of using the diesel generator set in winter, and correctly operate the diesel generator set to prolong the service life of the unit.

1. No low temperature load operation for diesel generator set.

After the diesel generator set started and caught fire, some users can't wait to put into load operation immediately. Because of the low temperature and high viscosity of the engine oil, it is difficult for the engine oil to fill into the friction surface of the moving pair, which will cause serious wear of the diesel generator set. In addition, plunger spring, valve spring and injector spring are easy to break due to "cold and brittle".In addition, plunger spring, valve spring and injector spring are easy to break due to "cold and brittle". Therefore, after the diesel generator set starts up and catches fire in winter, it should idle for a few minutes at low and medium speed, and then put into load operation when the cooling water temperature reaches 60 ℃.

What's the Taboo of Using Diesel Generator Set in Winter

2. Do not use open fire to start.

Do not remove the air filter, dip the cotton yarn with diesel oil to ignite it, then make a igniter and put it in the intake pipe to start combustion. In this way, in the start-up process, the outside dust air will be directly inhaled into the cylinder without filtering, causing abnormal wear of piston, cylinder and other parts, and causing rough operation of diesel generator set and damage to the machine.

3. Don't choose fuel at will.

The low temperature in winter makes the fluidity of diesel worse, the viscosity increases, and it is not easy to spray, resulting in poor atomization and combustion deterioration, which leads to the decline of the power and economic performance of diesel generator set. Therefore, light diesel with low freezing point and good ignition performance should be selected in winter. It is generally required that the freezing point of diesel generator set should be 7-10 ℃ lower than the local minimum temperature in the current season.

4. Avoid baking oil pan with open fire.

Baking the oil pan with open fire will make the oil in the oil pan deteriorate, even scorch, reduce or completely lose the lubrication performance, thus aggravating the wear of the machine. The engine oil with low freezing point should be selected in winter, and the method of external water bath heating can be used to increase the engine oil temperature when starting.

5. Avoid discharging water too early or not discharging cooling water.

The diesel generator set shall be operated at idle speed before flameout. When the temperature of cooling water is below 60 ℃, the water is not hot, then flameout and drain. If the cooling water is discharged prematurely, the diesel generator block will shrink suddenly and crack when the temperature is high. When discharging water, the residual water in the diesel generator set body should be completely discharged, so as to avoid its freezing expansion and cracking.

The above are some taboos of using diesel generator set in winter shared by generator manufacturer ---Guangxi Dingbo Electric Power Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. users who use diesel generator set in alpine areas in winter should pay special attention to it.
