by John Pelligrino Event Organiser

Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta opened for the first time at Turner Field on November 21, 2013 and was a great draw and crowd pleaser through closing day. Global Winter Wonderland had something fun for everyone young and old. This article looks at a few attractions of Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta which made it the favorite Atlanta holiday event of winter 2013.

1) Global Village

Global Village at Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta showcased giant spectacular replicas of architectural marvels from across the world. The replicas included the Statue of Liberty, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, Great Pyramids of Giza, Taj Mahal, Temple of Heaven, Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Eiffel Tower.  Facts about the landmark listed on information signs in front of each lantern also provided the opportunity to learn more about them. Guests were able to truly travel the world in just one day at Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta!

2) Christmas Castle

In addition to the lanterns at Global Village, Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta also had a Christmas Holiday Village. The attractions in the Christmas Holiday Village included Santa and his reindeer,  a Holiday Channel, snowmen, and a Candy House. The most magical of the holiday section of lanterns was the Christmas Castle. Not just a magnificent visual spectacle of color, tiers, and lights, the Christmas Castle also featured angels and deer. The Christmas Castle truly wowed guests and was one of the favorite spots for them to take photos.

3) Family Rides

One of the favorite attractions at Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta was the family and thrill rides. The rides at the festival included the Expo Wheel, the Himalaya, Bumper Cars, Tilt A Whirl, Mardi Gras, Merry Go Round, and others. Best of all, the rides were included in the admission price.  All guests could ride as many times as they liked throughout their visit.

4) International Food Bazaar

An array of global delicacies was available to guests at the International Food Bazaar. The Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta bazaar featured foods from more than a dozen countries, such as India, Greece, Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and the United States. Pizza and pasta were featured at the Italian booths, and delicious desserts could be found at the Brazilian vendors. With so many options to choose from, guests did not need to worry about going hungry.

5) Lanterns

Of course, the Chinese lanterns were the most popular attraction at Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta. As the biggest Chinese lantern festival outside of China, visitors were part of a once in a lifetime holiday event. Many guests at the event commented that the lanterns looked just like the real landmarks.

Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta was an unforgettable event that left its mark on the 2013 holiday season in Atlanta. With a jam-packed entertainment schedule, thrilling amusement rides, and tasty delicacies from around the globe, Global Winter Wonderland Atlanta was truly a one-of-a-kind event.
