What to Keep in Mind when Buying A 4K Ultra HD TV?

by Tanjni Pache Content Writer
The year 2019 has seen a multitude of 4K smart televisions being introduced by several brands. From the inexpensive affordable to the extraordinarily expensive the range is huge and with each change of price category, there is a change in the features. Yet irrespective of whether it is on the lower side of the price range or on the higher side, the 4K television technology is not just about packing lots of pixels into one screen. It is the quality of crystals used, that make all the difference. Hence while the lower end 4K televisions try to ensure clarity of colour and sharpness of the image, it is the high-end pixels with their wide colour technologies and High Definition range that actually make for an extraordinary TV viewing experience.

Unique Characteristics of 4K TVs

Every 4K television is characterised by certain inherent features. In some the expression of these features might be ordinary, in others it is extra-ordinary and in some very high-end 4K TVs, it transcends the extraordinary and becomes almost real-like and ethereal. Some of these features are:
  • Every 4K TV, like the 32 inches, 36 inches, the 43 inch 4K TV etc., has about 4 times more pixels than their preceding models.
  • They also come with special screen technologies like the HDR or high dynamic range, the WCG or the wide colour gamut etc.
  • They are compatible with high-end game consoles like the PS4 pro, XBOX etc., while their enhanced display technologies make for unexpected quality of gaming visuals.

Points to remember when buying a 4K Ultra HD TV

Buying a TV can be quite confusing given the number of choices the buyer has.  Some of the important points to keep in mind are:
  • It has been generally seen that a 50-inch ultra HD TV like the 55G500-IN is relatively reasonably priced but as the size of the hd tv increases so does the price and also the available features.
  • A refresh rate of about 60 Hz is a mandatory requirement for any 4K TV and is the minimum refresh rate present in all Tvs.
  • While most TVs come with HDR compatibility there are some bargain versions which do not. Opting for a TV without HDR compatibility is generally said to be an absolute no since it spoils the viewing experience of the 4K. But in order to be able to cater to a wider audience has both HDR and non HDR varieties in their bouquet.
  • While OLED High Definition TV with their ultra-slim looks is way prettier than the normal 4k TVs, they are also costlier. Thus a buyer should opt for the mid-range quantum dot displays available from brands like TCL which offers a uniquely beautiful combination of colour, contrast and brightness.
  • HDMI ports present need to be a minimum 4 in number and if a buyer is able to get the new format of HDMI port which is the HDMI 2.0, then he should immediately opt for it.
  • A complete list of applications like YouTube, Netflix, T-Cast etc., are available with all TCL 4K UHD Tvs.
  • With the screens getting thinner, the TV speaker quality has deteriorated in gemeral. Hence in order to compensate for it and to enable viewers to get the best experience out of any 4K TV like the 55 inch 4k smart tv, every TCL 4K HD TV has the Dolby sound system built in by default.

A Smart TV with 4K and HD is quite an impressive buy and hence one should take the time to sit back, compare and do a little bit of research before making the final decision.
