What to Do When You Get a New Puppy

dogs encounter behavioural issues, making them end up in shelters. They may
have sad events that happened earlier in their lives. However, such problems
can be prevented by having the pooch join puppy classes and obedience training.

helps your dogs grow up to be responsible, just like your kids.
When to
Get a New Puppy
A
recommendation to be shared is bringing the puppy home only when they are eight
weeks old. A few breeders never allow their puppies to leave before this age.
But there are also others who allow getting a new puppy at
least six weeks old. If they do, they surely miss the chance to bond with their
siblings, and they will miss their Mom.
What to
Do with a Puppy
If you
are now able to get a new puppy, you need to take him
to the veterinarian for a checkup. The pup is no longer receiving immunity from
his Mom and will need to start taking shots. The vet will recommend to the
owner all the possible shots he needs.
Also,
allow the pet to spend the first few weeks in your home to socialize. It’s
important to let him know about the new people around and the environment. He
must be familiarized with each person coming in and out of the household. If
they encounter disparate situations, they can be more comfortable with the new surroundings.
Learn
from Puppy Classes
Puppy
classes are important for a new puppy. The classes will make them sociable with
others and become obedient to their masters. The best way to know about puppy
classes is to talk with a trainer and ask him if you can observe the pet in one
of his classes. You can also ask about his philosophy and the training
techniques to use.
If
you get a new puppy to class, check how the trainer
will interact with them. Observe if the puppy is merely playing or is learning
how to follow commands. As the puppy classes teach about socialization, the
puppy may be taught when a master calls him and that it’s okay for someone to
touch and hold him. He must also learn basic obedience commands, such as stay,
down and sit.
If you
have chosen a trainer, you need to enrol your pup to the class. Good training
will create a bond between you and your pooch, and the best way to teach is
while their still puppies.
