If you have been surfing for many years, you may think that you know it all, and that there is nothing more that anyone could teach you about how to surf. However, any surfing coach will tell you that it is the people who have been surfing the longest who have picked up the worst habits and are now making serious mistakes that could put them at risk of injury. This will certainly slow them down in competitions and races too. Not every expert surfer wants to move onto competitive events, but if you have decided to move on up, then you need to take some surfing lessons to get your bad habits out of your system.

Get rid of excessive expectations

Everyone can dream, and if you want to be a competitive surfer, then you have to have high expectations of your success. However, if those expectations are not high, but unrealistic, you are setting yourself up to fail before you even start. Inflated expectations at the start of a ride can lead you to become frustrated when things don't go your way. With expert Surfing Coaching, you can learn to manage your expectations so you can achieve, but not suffer disappointment.

Improve your posture

You may not realise it, but your posture has slipped while you've been surfing on your own. Once you realise that you aren't in the right position, it is obvious, but experienced surfers can go for years with poor body posture without noticing the consequences until they hit a competition. Surfing coaches can help you to get your posture back to its perfect position, and re-train your body to remember that posture. Without it, you will struggle to control the board effectively, and it could mean that you fail in competitive sports.

Be coached if you have taught yourself

A lot of experienced surfers in the Gold Coast are self-taught. They have watched relatives and friends surfing, and have copied them. This is fine while you are surfing for pleasure, but if you want to be a really good surfer, or start entering competitions, then you need to take some Surfing Coaching. If you are self-taught, then you may not know exactly how to stand, or how to manage the board. You might have been surfing wrong all these years. Correct self-taught flaws today, and have a better surfing future.
