The course syllabus of crane appointed person course depends upon the institution you are enrolled in but in general there are some standard objectives that every institution has to keep in mind while drafting the course outline.

The course must have the following objectives

1)    Understanding of legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

2)    Follow safe systems of work including method statements

3)    Understanding different roles and responsibilities of workers at a construction site.

4)    Knowledge and over view regarding different types of cranes and associated terminologies

5)    Different Mode Factors

6)    Understanding the format and terminologies used in crane documentation

7)    Understanding the examinations involved in evaluating crane stability and how to use different safety devices.

8)    Observe and oblige to British Standard 7121 Safe Use of Cranes Guidelines sections 1,2,3, and 4.

9)    How to read and understand duty charts.

10)  How to plan a lifting keeping in mind possible risks factors and their counter strategies.

 

Besides these objectives there could be many more according to the institution you have been enrolled in but these are basic objective that are must for you to call yourself a trained crane operator. Abiding by law and different sections of British Standard 7121 should be your top priority if you are pursuing a career in field operation related to construction using heavy machinery especially cranes.
